Painting is progessing and today temporary chaos
Well the painting is moving along quite nicely. Showing photos of the wall with the first coat of new grey paint doesn't indicate much, so I haven't bothered to take any pictures. But this morning the flooring guys arrived, early. They took a look around, I verified what would be removed - everything down to the concrete - and then the contractor arrived to remove his gear for the week.
Before heading out, the two contractors, one an electrician, tried installing the dining room fan light. BUT - it was the wrong one. The one they were struggling with was supposed to go in the bedroom. However, in thinking it over, I'm going to leave that simpler one there and put the blingy fixture in the master bedroom.
I'm going for a more casual look to the unit so the nickel and white fan/light will look better in the dining room. This was a very good bit of confusion. But nothing more will happen with that until next week, or maybe the end of this week if the flooring adventure doesn't encounter any obstacles.
The tile from the atrium came up easily as did the parquet. Of course there was scraping involved but no heavy machinery was needed to pound it away. I can only imagine that the neighbours were pleased at the lack of disturbance.
There is probably some glue here and there that will be scraped off. It's hard to predict but the glued-on vinyl in the kitchen may prove to be the hardest of all to take up. Fingers crossed that inferior glue was used.
The toilets will be removed in the two bathrooms and the contractor will be the one to replace them when the new floors are in and the baseboards have been installed. Wax rings have been ordered from Home Depot and when they arrive and I'm summoned to collect them, that will be an outing. Such is one's social life in these Covid times. Every day I'm grateful that all this work is allowed to proceed.
I expect to see things taking shape more and more every day.

And so we no longer have tile or parquet in the expanded living - dining area |
