Inching closer
Today the progress is obvious. Two closet units installed. One filled - but not in an organized fashion. The painting continued and some cleanup was done. The new dishwasher and microwave were delivered, in unopened boxes, and currently occupy the dining room. The dishwasher will be installed on Monday, along with the washer and dryer which are to be delivered that day also. The microwave will only be installed as part of the kitchen upgrade which will take place over the coming few weeks.
One little red canvas wagonload at a time, I moved the contents of the office shelving in unit 905, up to unit 1707, their new location, onto the shelves in the new office. These shelves are deeper and will hold considerably more than the one I am leaving behind. In time I will find attractive, matching storage containers so the view of the door-free storage is more attractive. These shelves will be home, for the most part, to my family history materials. The centre bottom shelf will house the filing cabinet starting on June 1.
One of the two facing closets in the master bedroom is now complete and I moved some clothing to the hanging racks. The shelves, once again, are deeper than in 905, so some changes will be made to "keep up appearances".
I did clean the floor in the new office. Starting tomorrow morning, it will be the temporary holding area for most of the boxes which will make the same journey as the little red wagon has over the past week. I have plenty of very welcome help for moving those boxes. We have the service elevator all morning.
In the afternoon, Therese will come to clean unit 905 and I will await two visits from IKEA-dispatched trucks. One of them will hold the replacement units for the third and final closet. The other truck will take away the too-tall units that I had mistakenly ordered.
Later in the day, John Kelly continued painting and the place is really looking nice. It will be a few more weeks before all of the updates are complete and I will continue to add photos.
For now, here are the two completed closet units.
